Little Sew and Sew is South Wairarapa’s first choice for clothing alterations, repairs, dressmaking, and custom sewing services.

We are centrally located in Morison Bush, the central point between Featherston, Greytown, and Martinborough. You are welcome to drop-off or pick-up items between 9:00am and 2:30pm Monday to Friday, and Saturday morning until 12:00pm.

A bit about me….I come from a line of seamstresses. My grandmother used to sew at home for Rembrandt suits in 50’s and 60’s. The Rembrandt man would arrive to her home in Naenae and deliver the suits to be constructed that week. She taught her daughters (my mother and aunts) to sew. My eldest aunt became a seamstress in Palmerston North making bridal gowns, and my mother was a talented dressmaker who made us beautiful tailored clothes including my ball gowns, beauty pagent dresses, and entries for the fashion in the field at local race days.

My mother worked full-time as a hairdresser so I kept myself busy on her sewing machines constructing terrible things with her leftover fabric and constantly interrupting her while she was working to rethread the overlocker. I am primarily self-taught but as an adult went back to sewing classes for formal training. I am experiened in working with all types of fabrics, sewing delicates and industrial clothing. I am adept at sewing many different types of hems and performing all sorts of repairs.

I enjoy the challenge that every new garment presents, from dog coats to heavy duty work clothing, to satin dresses and everything in between.

I offer a personalised service where we meet initially to discuss your needs, then chat about what can be achieved, time-frame, and cost. I will keep you updated throughout the duration of the project.
